This one is just for comic relief (with a little sprinkle of truth here and there)

So peeps on to a lighter discussion,

Don't yall just hate it when you go in a long line to pay something for whatever reason (food, bank etc) and there's always that person who pays with a bag of coins? Or people who are so unnecessarily cheap they will stand in a long grocery line to accept a 10 cent discount on a popsicle (In both cases that's my friend Kelly) Aint nobody got time for that

What about those people who like their own statuses and pics on Facebook?? Really though? Aint nobody got time for that definitely.

Or people who constantly put up statuses such as 'Look at me. I'm so gorgeous..you wish you could be like me'  Some say it directly and some don't. Point is..aint nobody got time for that.

Those people who said they liked a song before it became mainstream....OK then...didnt know you were a music producer...aint nobody got time for that .. (cough @ my sister Zoe)
or worse, they dont like it now BECAUSE it's mainstream...tell me..how does that make sense? Please..aint nobody got time for that.

People who send you games requests on Facebook.. Aint nobody got time for that..NB Boo if you're still playing Farmville it's probably that time you reassess your life.

People who boast about basically everything...'check out my bling bling..you can't afford this'. Um..okay like we care right? (Probably making up for insecurity issues anyway). Aint nobody got time for that.

People who dominate a conversation...well obviously there aint no time for that..literally..cuz you're taking up most of it.

People who are desperate for attention.....say it with me. Aint.Nobody.Got.Time.For.That. Cool

You're a model? You don't say. Apparently so is roughly 85% of girls these days..Aint nobody got time for that.

Arrogant people who truly believe that they're better than others. Think we got time for that? No my little pompous friends...no. No time for that today, tomorrow or well ever.

The Molding of....

Hmmm been quite a while since I last posted something...I think I may even have forgotten how to write. Anyways today I just feel about writing about the oh too common topic- originality. Now I know growing up in this day and age, with  the ever expanding social media prompting every one to become celebrities, that it can be quite tiring to be seeing people basically force this idea of what we 'should be like' onto their listening audience.

Television, magazines, the internet...everywhere one can find this constant pressure embedded by both the subliminal and outright messages that we should fit the mold. People should wake up and smell the coffee because little by little it is being etched in our minds the blueprint that will make us all robots and slaves to this ever aflame bout of commercialism. Now I'd rather not go into the whole politics/propaganda/capitalism theories that would all cement my points in this post but you all can definitely go read it up. As in the words of Tyler Durden (one of favourite actors: Brad Pitt) from the epic movie Fight Club,' We're consumers. We are by-products of a lifestyle obsession. Murder, crime, poverty, these things don't concern me. What concerns me are celebrity magazines, television with 500 channels, some guy's name on my underwear. Rogaine, Viagra, Olestra.'.


Lifestyle obsession, Tyler claims is our pitfall from diversity and originality....from the calms of a free spirited mind, not wavered by the harps of uniformity. 

So to recap things, I have stated that capitalism and commercialism, aided by the propaganda perpetuated by the mass media, we are a generation slowly or arguably quickly seeking to fit in to the status quo. This is nothing new, of course. Since Man has been around, there has always been a constant desire to belong to the pack, to be accepted and to be loved.

However, our present lives are vastly different...different aims..different agendas....

All that we can do is try to be as true to ourselves as possible and not sell out ourselves to conform to other's views. Conformity is another key element we should all try to stay away from. Merely accepting what is in front of us, is not enough. In  fact, this complacency is what hinders evolution. Ask questions, Do not be afraid to ask questions. You would be most surprised at the knowledge you would acquire if you were to.

I, myself am a victim of this. Of course I want to fit in, of course I want to be accepted and to be loved. These are basic needs of a human. Yet sometimes I wonder, in the course of all this, whether I am losing the essence of ME.

Young adults these days have it especially hard. This phase in our lives is that time where we are soul searching and there are many influences that can steer us in so many parts. I know it is easy to talk about this and easy to be judgmental whilst its entirely different to actually growing up where you feel as though you don't belong for whatever reason. I can never pretend to understand as every one's situation is different. 

All that I can do is to implore especially the youths to stand for something different..be real..be YOU. 

By simply being you, you are a world apart from every one else.

 They all want to fit into the mold. You are made of different clay.

YOUNG THE GIANT: GUNS OUT

Well first of all this band has an amazing lead vocalist, Sameer Gadhia who leaves the listener in a wonderful trance, never wanting to let go. They broke out of the music scene with their beautiful song 'My Apartment' in 2011.  Judging from their first big single, one could tell that this band was nonetheless leading to bigger and better things as their sound was one that produced a light almost ethereal feel; which is strikingly different for an all male lead band. Then again, many can argue and say that a lot of Indie bands do have lead singers with sultry voices but it is evident that in their particular song 'Guns Out' that Sameer's voice is unique as they come. This band's sound is a cross between cherubs playing and hobos in Brooklyn. Even I would laugh at this analogy but to me I really can't seem to find any other way to describe them. This particular sing posted is definitely one of my favourites from them and is left up to the listener's interpretation. Whatever it may be, one can definitely sense an air of freedom, independence and a fight for individualism in this song. I can guess this from the line,' And all these people with small dreams are looking up at big screens, well am I wrong or right?'
It seems that the message here is one indicating a sort of slavery relating to conformism and accepting who we should be through the media. 'Small minds' refer to the extent to which we are trapped and eventually become submissive to the sold dream that we are no better than  what the media/ society proposes us to be. The beginning of the song is revolutionary and takes a head on approach to bringing about this change.
Actually listening to this song and looking at a lot of other Indie bands on the whole, have left me wondering if I really am a conformist. I say fight to be all that you can be and know yourself to be. You should never change or want to change for anybody else. God made us all to be unique and contribute to this Earth in a way that only we can inexplicably could. Even if you don't believe in God, there must be something greater than ourselves out there and by just being ourselves we can contribute significantly to society in ways we could never think possible.
You may then think, 'All of this from one song?'

But that my friend is the power of music. It's art on a spreadsheet, art in the wind, travelling through sound, illuminating our lives and leaving much for our interpretations. Artistes have a lot to say through their music and next time you listen to a song :

GROUPLOVE: UPCOMING INDIE BAND

This band is an absolutely wonderful band whose eccentric voice lead and diversified sounds appeals to the soul in constant need of true Indie Gratification...

The first time that I heard this band to be honest was when they had practically gone mainstream. Not one to be this unaware of rising Indie performers, yet alone wonderful ones like these, I was surprised that I was not quick on the beat. Their song "Tongue Tied' is truly amazing and was of course a big hit, not only among hipsters and hipster wannabes but it was actually the #1 position on Billboard Alternative Songs Chart. 

Yet my favourite song was 'Get giddy'. The introductory lyrics,' oh, let's be friends and we'll hold hands as trains go passin' by' just caught my attention and carried me to that place that only hair raising songs can. The distinguishable voice and the wonderful purist vibe just really opened up my perspective to this band. Their lyrics are appealing to the masses; the heartbroken, the heart breakers, the loners, the outcasts and every classification we propose ourselves to be.

The video posted is called 'Colours'  and can have a variety of meanings. However to me, I see an individual on a soul searching journey and ultimately, seeing the world in this burst of colours. This band is making it huge followed by many others such as Foster the People, Phoenix, Young the Giant,  Two Door cinema Club, and my personal all time favourite, Cage the Elephant.
